I work with a spectrum of psychological and behavioral issues, including depression, anxiety, post traumatic stress disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorders, eating and body image disturbance disorders, relationship conflict, and life transitions. I welcome patients with diverse backgrounds and cultures and seek to make each of you feel welcome and accepted exactly as you are. We will use our first meeting to get acquainted and for me to hear what is troubling you and what kind of help you would like. The first meeting is important for determining whether you feel comfortable with me and whether I believe I have the ability to help you in the way you wished to be helped. I tailor the therapeutic techniques I use to the individual. I am trained in and am comfortable using a number of different therapy tools and approaches, including Client-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), hypnotherapy, and plain vanilla supportive psychotherapy, for those who would just like a non-judgmental ear. The choice of treatment will be based both on each individual's preferences and on the research validity of any particular treatment modality for the issues the patient brings to therapy. For instance, research has shown that EMDR is particularly effective for healing trauma and would be my treatment of choice to use for issues related to both present and past trauma. I accept most major insurance plans. I use a billing service, which enables you to check out what your co-pays and deductibles will be prior to our first appointment. Rather than collect co-pays at the end of our sessions, I have chosen instead to have statements sent once a month that show charges, insurance payments, and the amount due from the patient. We won't use our precious time together to worry about payment! |
